What a Time to Be a Leader!

Happy Friday,

Whether you lead a small group, a large group, or an organization, there’s never been a more invigorating time to be a leader. I mean ‘leader’ in the true sense of the word. If you thought leadership aptitude was important before…oh man!

But with chaos comes opportunity, and there’s never been more of both to challenge leaders to be the difference-maker. You can no longer rely solely on past experience. Things that have 'always' been true are becoming less true, requiring leaders to become knowledgeable about new things, then recognize opportunities, and adjust quickly. To do that, you need to adjust your information algorithm to get you to the forefront of how things are likely to evolve, then lead your team to thrive in that world.  

As my Canadian friends would say, skate to where the puck is going, not where it is.

The status quo is in the early stages of an overhaul. Your team definitely doesn't need an administrator (actually, it never did). It needs someone to lead it confidently into a better future. This is when real Leadership with a capital 'L' gets tested.

Punchline: It's time to make the mental shift into founder’s mode. Do it, and you'll stand out from the pack and be seen as a leader among leaders. The things we remember and value most in life are very often the big challenges we overcame. This is definitely a big one. Your 100-year-old self wouldn't have it any other way.
